Chalk Lake Camping Trip

So much fun!  We went to Chalk Lake last weekend with some of our bestest friends Matt and Ashley Chambless.  This will go down as one of the top 10 favorite times I've ever had.  They got up there early to get a camping spot, and they found an awesome one!  It was right on the water, and walking distance to the fishing lake.  The kids had an absolute BLAST!

Fishing off the dock at Chalk Lake.  It was awesome, you could see the fish come up and bite.  That kept the kids entertained longer than we expected!

The Chambs took us to a ghost town 5 miles up the road called St. Elmo.  It was awesome!  There were chipmunks there that ate out of our hands.  That was a huge highlight for the kids, ok, and us.

AND this is our family =-)

I love this picture.  So cute.
Ashley made a nature scavenger hunt for the kids, it was so much fun.  They had to find bark, litter, something shiny, so much more.  Mallory was pretty tired in this picture, she is cross eyed =-)
Right by our campsite
Kaida and Tre.  Poor guy got a fish hook stuck in his side, he was such a good trooper though.  He sings the best happy birthday I've ever heard.  He got it removed when they got back to Castle Rock, thank goodness.
We stopped at a fish hatchery on the way home, the kids loved feeding the fish.  Ashley and I were a little grossed out by how many fish there were however...

We fit a lot in one weekend, and it was great.  I love Ashley and Matt for being such great friends, we are so blessed to have met them, and can't wait to make some more memories with them!

  1. Looks like a fun weekend. You will have to tell me where the campground is. Kudos to me for introducing you two! Love you girls!
